My 2 ESS are groomed every 3 months as a rule. The lady who does them is fab, however, she is on maternity leave til March. They were done late July and are already booked in with her for March. I cant make up my mind what to do in the interim, do I just leave them and let the coat grow shaggy and scruffy through the winter or do I book them in somewhere else for a couple of cuts. As a groomer, how would you feel doing someone elses client under these circumstances, The usual lady is a one man band, one dog at a time groomer and I have every intention of going back to her. Does anyone have any experience of the mobile grooming vans? My biggest worry with leaving them for 7 months is how tangly and filthy they will get through the winter, I will get through a lot of towels. Anyone near Milton Keynes who could recommend someone?

I would guess your current groomer would expect you to go elsewhere in the meantime and probably appreciate it or it would be heck of a job in March and would think your dogs will appreciate it too or they will be very shaggy and possibly knotty and in the winter will stay wet for much longer with so much coat . Not in your area so can't recommend anyone not keen on mobile vans the franchises ? Perhaps ask at vets, pet shops see if they no anyone else who works 121 ? I would out of courtesy explain to the new groomer that your usual groomer out of action as they may be worried they've upset you when you no longer go there after March :-)

If it was me, I would hope that my clients would in fact get them groomed at least once in between. Ask her for a referral. I would certainly give out a name of a trusted groomer friend to look after my clients if I had to be off work.
