Dog has started chewing things

Can anyone shed any light on my dog's behaviour - he is a 15 month old working cocker and in the last few days he has started becoming very destructive ( well for him anyway!). He is chewing and subsequently destroying all his bedding / my clothes that he can get hold of. He seems to be chewing them with his back teeth. He has various dog chews, but ignores them. There haven't been any changes to his routine recently and he seems perfectly OK in every other way.

He was never a destructive puppy, so am a bit concerned about the change in behaviour.

Its strange how he is chewing soft things in favour of dog chews which are harder material, so maybe the clue lies in that. I would suggest maybe popping him along to the vets to check for any tooth problems.
