I was in Tesco and caught a glimpse of a dog in a pram, the stroller was covered with a blanket but I saw something in there move as the cover wasn’t completely covering the pram (although by the looks of it the owner had intended to cover the pram) and it definitely wasnt a baby. I was hoping no one thats against the idea would see and report her.

I know dogs in stores like tesco are generally frowned upon but the dog was covered and making no disturbances so surely it should be fine? My dog makes no disturbances either.

I have a dog myself and also have a pram for my dog, a very small dog, and I would like to do this too. I have a disability that isn’t visible. My dog hasn’t gone to training classes but is a generally well behaved dog. I took her on a few walks in the pram and she wasn’t fine at first and tried to get out but eventually she got used to it and doesn’t mind being in the pram anymore.

when I was the person with the dog in Tesco I didn’t want to tell anyone because I know their dog must be an emotional support animal or something even if they haven’t done the training.

my questions are,

does anyone know why dogs aren’t allowed in Tesco (or are they allowed?), if you think I’d be fine bringing my dog into Tesco in a pram that’s covered? If not, why not?

Maybe you could ask them yourself?
The thing is sneaking the dog in and worrying about getting caught would be very sressful i should imagine.
If you ask them if you can take the dog in they can only say yes or no..and they would be able to explai why if the answer is no.

Maybe they just want to bring a dog into a shop, the dog can hardly offer any sort of 'support' from under a blanket in a pram. People do abuse the service dog/support dog thing, I knew someone who would whack a harness on her dog and try and chance bringing it into places where dogs weren't allowed :( just spoils things for people with genuine issues.

surrounded by strangers in a store feels scary to me.. it’s nice to have someone I know with me I always feel allot safer then

There isn't a law banning dogs from shops or premises selling food. It's simply down to the traders preference, which is why I love the local market towns and villages which are very dog friendly.

I don’t think a supermarket is the place for dogs except for trained dogs assisting people with tasks .
I love going places with my dog and prefer having him by me for company but supermarkets are busy places not nice for dogs .
