I was wondering if anyone had advice on the best insurers and/or policy type for an ageing Border Collie? He will be 12 soon and in the 7 years I've had him I have never insured him as he is a healthy chap. However after he got the edge of his paw trodden on after he cut the horse up on a narrow path when he stopped to sniff something (luckily just a small skin wound) it got me to thinking I should really insure for accident/3rd party at least should he ever get trodden on. He is not very horse aware in his old age e.g. walks under horses if they are stood still.
Having looked on Which? it said 70% of claims are illness related so now I'm thinking maybe I should do that. Adding illness makes the quotes jump from about £10 to £30 a month though.
Any recommendations or thoughts please?
