Who do you all insure with and what should I expect to pay?

I have no idea!

I had a quote from Petplan for a 5 year old greyhound, they wanted approx £20 per month

There are cheaper ones of course but like when you are insuring horses I dont know how easily they pay out etc (of course they might all be just fine

)

If you can be bothered to trawl down a few pages I did a post, and a few very helpful peeps replied with costs etc for their insurers?

Have heard petplan are good

Also - I have M&S insurance - also supposed to be good - think was about £350 for a year? Does that sound right

I didn't pay it, OH did, so can't check!

You need to find one that insures for the life of a condition rather than just for a year of a condition - so if you discover they have something, it's always covered - bot just for the first year...

M&S and Petplan both have this

they are not the cheapest but they are brilliant. Have paid out over and over again for my whippet tearing herself out hunting. also paid out well over £1000 when she had a disc prolapse and keep paying for all her ongoing painkillers. they don't have exclusions and they always try to help. My girl is 8 now with a history of claims and only costs £25 p/m which isn't bad.

I've got the younger one with Tesco ATM as they are much cheaper but she'll be joining petplan from about age 5.

Virgin...amazing

Sharpeis arent easy or cheap to insure, but Virgin do a lifetime superduper cover for London £28pm (over dogs and levels will be much cheaper)

Each claim has taken the max of 2/3 weeks to pay out, with no arguments.

We're with m&s, they paid out no fuss and cost about £190 a year per dog (lurchers). they have the high level of cover (£7000 vets fee's i think) and life cover. We're on the old policy type though, they changed it a while back

Petplan are really good and generally always pay out. Pinnical are also really good and give you £25 towards vacc's each year.

***Dany i really like the horse in your Sigg***

My miniature dachshund is with More Than and it's good cover, I think it's about £11 a month. Neither the cheapest nor the most expensive, but I used to work for them and know they're pretty good to deal with.

SAINSBURYS
Excellent service, had a claim and they paid up no problem no hassle, insured for life etc not just the usual year, costs less than £10 a month for a small cross breed dog. Ive claimed £300 and its ongoing and they said not a problem etc she has an allergy so we had tests etc and a special vaccine made for immune therapy.
Cant reccomend them highly enough!!

Both of mine are with More Than, £22 per month for both. Recently paid out within 2 weeks of claim going in, when my boy had a nasty bout of kennel cough.

Petplan definatley! Expensive but they pay out for an illness for the lifetime of the dog, not just a year like others. They paid out over £4000 for my gsd's hip replacement without any trouble. It costs me around £27 a month

My three are with Tesco, I think it is about £15 a month for all three, when I compared thier cover with others it was very good. I *touches wood very quickly* haven't had to claim, but my friend has and they paid out straight away.

We had our dog insured with direct line. They were fantastic!!!! We had four claims ongoing at once, each time he was insured upto maximum of £6000, more than my horses!!!!! and they will pay for life as long as you dont reach the maxmum. We had no questions asked re any of the claims and they paid almost straight away. It helped during the stressful times of having a poorly doggy!!!!
