Which insurance company do you use for your doggies - and who gives the best value for money?

Particularly for large breeds - I have an Alaskan Malamute

I can't fault Direct Line so far - £9 a month for basic cover, £14 for the advanced cover (including lifetime illnesses) and claiming has been a doddle - have yet to see how much it'll go up because I've claimed, though!

I also use Direct Line for my car insurance and really rate their call centres, it's actually a pleasant experience rather than the hair-ripping frustration you get from a lot of companies.

I have got my puppy with More Than, seems ok so far but i havnt had to claim yet! They gave £7000 vets fees for £11.25pm for a border collie.

I have also used Direct Line for car insurance and they were very good.

Direct Line have quoted me £11 per month without the additional benefits cover like loss of dog and death and so on - that gives me £4000 of cover per incident for a max of 12 months - I take it that if he gets an ongoing treatable condition then will only cover it for 12 months then (or to £4000) whichever comes first?

That's right, unless you take out the additional cover, in which case ongoing conditions are covered for as long as you keep paying the premium. I'll be upgrading to the higher level at renewal, a friend's dog has just been diagnosed with diabetes and it's made me paranoid, lol. :o

Even with the basic cover you get some nice perks, I'm about to make good use of some hydrotherapy sessions for her recent injury, I only have to top up the amount covered by a few quid. :)

We have the premier M&S cover for our two dogs and are very pleased with it. I think we pay £12.50 & £20 a month (lurchers). We've claimed twice with no problems (broken leg and cut that needed stitiching), they've paid up for the emergency vet, specialist vet and normal vet without query. We've also used the helpline when one of them found a pot of their painkillers and ate the lot!! They've got lifetime cover to up to your yearly limit as well which i think is good. That covers for £7000 vet fees i think.
