Hi, took Nala out this morning into the garden, and whilst I was cleaning out the chooks I heard her crunching something, shouted at her to leave it, but just as I got to her, I saw her swallow the remains of a cooked bone. Had a scout around the garden and found another 2 bones which look a bit like cooked ribs?
I am a bit worried incase they splinter, and was wondering if there are certains signs to look out for? She does get fed bones but ALWAYS raw!
I have a shared garden with a bloke who has 5 cats and no idea how to look after them or clear up there mess, I shall be having words with him AGAIN about clearing up after them!

If it was me I would just keep an eye on her, so if goes quiet, refuses food or strains to go to the toilet.

Don't worry too much, occasionally mine get given roasted bones, though rarely, and they haven't had any problems. Fwiw I think they are more likely to cause problems on the way down ifkwim.

Very unlikely to do any harm, but nonetheless keep an eye on her. Over the decades I have had dogs, I have never once ever had a problem from cooked bones that they have found or stolen ... although of course I would never dream of feeding cooked bones, they rarely do any harm.

cooked ribs can and do cause problems, hopefully she chewed it up well before she swallowed it, things to look out for;

refusing food
stomach pain
being sick
straining to poo/pain when pooing
lethargy
temperature and signs of infection

any of the above and straight to the vets for xray and possible surgery.

all you can do now is cross your fingers, most times they will be fine and you will be watching her like a hawk for nothing
