Huntley was castrated yesterday, I picked him up at 330 and he hasn't drunk anything since. I've syringed water into the side of his mouth so he has drunk, and he's wolfed some breakfast down this morning. Is this normal? Thanks

I would expect he would have been on a drip while under anaesthetic so he is probably all hydrated by that and doesn't feel the need to drink any more. If he is bright, toileting as normal and eating I would give it a bit before worrying. If he is not toileting or his urine is really dark I would be more concerned.

As Roxy said to me it sounds like he's been on a drip and well hydrated if everything coming out the other end is normal, esp if his urine is nice and pale I wouldn't worry or syringe water. If he's wolfing his food he doesn't sound out of sorts, the arn't really many reasons for a dog well in himself to go off water except that he doesn't need it.

He has now wee'd, it was very dark, but he's had a 20 minute on lead walk, and he came back and had a massive drink so hopefully he's fine. He's just feeling very sorry for himself!
Thanks :).

They said a gentle 20 minute wander. He's used to doing 5/6 miles a day, he's already getting fresh (can dogs get fresh?), he'll do himself more harm bounding round the house with his excess energy I think -lol. It's going to be a long week!
