So, OH is furious because our walls are painted white and we have two GSDs, one of whom keeps leaning on the walls and leaving dog-shaped muddy shadows on them.

They also come back from walks wet and muddy, then shake everywhere. My house is FILTHY. My dining room looks like an Appaloosa.

I know this is part and parcel of owning dogs, and frankly I don't really mind (I also accept that we willingly painted the walls white!) - but OH has a bee in his bonnet and I said I'd look into seeing if we could do anything. I've seen a few dogs wearing plastic overall type things (usually posh dogs like poodles at crufts) which keep rain and mud off, and have openings for the inevitable toileting requirements.

Anyone know where I can get some, or have any experience of using them?

I can sympathise, I'm also in the 2 GSD appaloosa spotted house camp. I was only thinking this afternoon while walking them that some of those waterproof suits like you see poodles wearing poncing into shows had a certain appeal. However I'm not sure if I could ever actually be seen in public with a shepherd wearing one, however I might just treat them (or should that be me) to equafleece to dry them off at home.

my GSD does wear a coat when it is really wet, covers some of his belly as well as all his top, but legs and half his tummy still get pretty wet and muddy. he always gets attacked with towel! but think it does help a bit. it has little legs straps and he is happy running around in it. one of the few that hasn't got to much fill either, as think he would get too hot in a lot of them. i got it in brown to camouflage, so it doesn't look too silly!

Do you have room to make a kennel outside or a utility room you could lock them in until they dry off after a walk?

Thanks for all the suggestions folks - I'll go and check them all out! Will stick up some pics of them dressed up when I've decided. I don't really care whether they look cool or not to be honest; I never really care what people think, plus it'll be dark. Hehe

Ah Sprig if only we could - it takes around 4 hours for them to dry off and after I've been in work all day I'd feel bad about not spending time with them! I tried towelling them down but it was 1 towel per dog per walk, so 4 a day - I don't think my washing machine or electric bill could cope!
