Hi all
My 6 year old working cocker Ben has developed pancreatitis and for the last 2 months been off his food but drinks lots of water and lifeless and I am close to tears most days watching him and helpless. I have been to my vet and she keeps pushing Hills tin meat Ben just looks at this meat and walks away with touching. I have tried high quality raw feeding which was low in fat seen a improvement in his eating but his test results showed he had gone from stage 1 pancreatitis to stsge 2 so had to stop feeding raw. Pleased to say hes now back to stage 1 pancreatitis and started home cooking his meals 3 per day with a mix of Turkey low in fat, brown rice and egg and what a improvement he eat better and has more life about him.

I have been told of a small dog food manufacturer based in Scotland who produce a dog food for pancreatitis by a local pet shop but the staff member cant remember the name of the company as they stop stocking 4 years ago but said their pancreatitis dog food they made was the best on the market. Can anyone on here help me find them please.

Thanks in advance

Big Thanks Stiff Knees will post how I got on website working so still in business
Good luck. Sorry my previous post was so short, my elderly lab was stood at the door waiting for his late morning constitutional and I replied in haste. So sorry to hear about Ben's issues, must be awful, we have Labradors so appetite is never a problem even when they're poorly! Jakey our almost 13 year old Lab has returned some slightly squiffy kidney tests so I'm researching kidney friendly food for him and stumbled across this site only yesterday! So, I can't actually offer a personal recommendation, but thought this might be who you were looking for. Would love to hear how you get on ??

Hi my dog has pancreatitis, I never found he was any better on Hills special diet food. he has flareups quite often, has just got over another one. I feed chicken or turkey, and also white fish fillets - the cheap stuff from the supermarkets. Thanks for the suppliers name Stiff Knees I will investigate them too

My dog was diagnosed with pancreatis about a year ago. Vet recommended Hills biscuits. Dog ate the first small bag so I bought a massive sack. Dog now wont touch the stuff. If you are anywhere near Hereford you are welcome to the stuff!!

My Basset had pancreatitis for a few years before she died of unrelated issues.

She was fed tinned Chappie (vet recommended) I was never convinced of it's nutritional value but it was low fat. We found feeding little and very often kept her flare ups at bay. The key was not letting her stomach empty, we had noticed her flare ups happened around 3am, she was then fed 7am, 12pm, 5pm, 8pm & 10pm, to help prevent this. High maintenance but it worked for her

My GSD developed pancreatitis when she was 4 yrs. Was touch and go for a while but she made it to 12 yrs with occasional flare-ups.
We tried all the food options, and ended up settling on lean raw meat. Appreciate it is not for everyone, but we fad a lot of rabbit, fish, etc. She got very sick if she had an empty stomach so had early feed, lunch, dinner, and bedtime snack.

I had a wee collie lab cross who developed pancreatitis when she was about 6
I fed her the science plan low fat biscuits and as long as she had nothing else she was fine
i was able to mix a wee bit of gravy through it just to moisten it up

Hector has Pancreatitis. He has Purina Gastrointestinal and has recovered. It is sadly up to £70 a bag but it sees him right.

We have tried him on the one advertised on TV where the bag comes with the dog's name on it and it is supposed to be specially formulated for the dog, but he was ill almost straight away, so he stays with the Purina.

Big Thanks all for the advice and recommendations with offers. After calling Land Of Holistic Pets and talking with them about my Ben they offered me a free sample to try. The advice and knowledge of the staff were overwhelming on the subject they explained the ingredients directed me to customer reviews on Trustpilot also Feefo. In 2014 the business was awarded the best new product in the pet industry by trade body PATs.
After testing out the free sample, I purchased a 2kg bag and true to the companies claims my Ben has his life back he eating drinking as normal full of life and energy now playing ball in the park. The vet tested Ben's blood this morning (Sat) and all good the vets very happy with his blood count level even commented on how happy he looking bouncing about the room wagging his tail.
Land of Holistic Pets has an amazing product even my Vet agreed and it is a shame that Vets are ignoring this dog food for Commerical reasons.
Will update after Ben's next blood test after the new year
Thanks all

If it's hills or royal canin they both offer a money back guarantee, if your dog won't eat it take it back and the vets should refund you, they then return it to the company for reimbursement.
