Hi, I am looking after my daughters working cocker spaniel for two weeks and apart from the walks she is being very well behaved. When we take her out she pulls so much that I have to take her our on a horse lead rope and wrap it round my waist to hold her. Once we get out on to the fields she runs free and comes back without any problems. I know I cant change everything she does while I have her but just wondered if anyone has any ideas that could help with this problem. We only have to go 100 metres before we get to the fields on a quiet road, but I dont trust her without the lead on this road.

Just an update on the Halti. Dog was a bit fed up with it to start with and has a few moments of trying to rub it off but then settled down and walked quite well at my side. Hopefully she will continue to behave using the Halti.

That's brilliant stuff. Pulling at the halti and trying to get it off sounds about right - our husky does the same at times but soon settles down. It'll never replace good 'heel' training, but it does save your arms! chuckle.
