I accidentally rescued a pug last year and despite it being alllergic to mud and rain initially it’s now quite good at being one of the dogs on the yard.

Recently my other bitch has decided to try and pull it around by the tail the pug doesbt seem to mind and doesn’t yelp or anything. Now the other bitch has joined in so both of them are taking it in turns to pull her around.

I have never seen anything like it before is it a dominant thing? All dogs are out all day so they aren’t lacking in exercise. I’m just worried they might end up damaging the tail?

Any experiences? They are all bitches and generally get on well none are particularly dominant but the pug is the youngest and most submissive dog.

I would never let three play, having had a fight between bitches that had historically always got one well, that resulted in one being killed.
It is not acceptable and if the pug won't stop them you will have to, IMO.

Yes, I would step in to stop 2 onto 1 before it escalates.

Our Rotters used to pull each other around by their tails as pups, they do seem to be quite numb there. They have grown out of it now but there are only two of them and it seemed to be quite equal.

Thanks all I stop it each time. I was just trying to understand the behavior it’s bizzare and something I haven’t seen before. If one stops the other starts it. Hopefully they will loose interest in it soon. They are all crated separately at night and seem fine in the house you never see it.

I’m at the vet for something else I might ask them too. Thanks you.

put something harmless but non-nice tasting on the pug's tail until the other dogs stop e.g. the type of thing to stop animals chewing their bandages (can't remember what it is called but the vet will have some)
PS how can you 'accidentally' rescue something -lol

Lol I keep uttering the phrase no more dogs then a friend or someone contacts me. The poor thing was stuck in a crate 8 hours a day and was chewing itself to bits. Now it’s getting chewed here.. at the vets today il ask what the stuff is called that is a good idea thank you
