Does anyone know of any smaller dog rescues places in Scotland? I know of the main ones like dogstrust and sspca bit maybe lower key ones which maybe aren't known as much. Just thinking they might benefit more from a free kennel ? Or would I be better sticking with the main ones? Any help would be great.

There's second chance kennels at Thornton, Glenrothes. Neighbour got a dog from them. They are quite a small place but have been on the go for a while and rehome a lot of dogs.

Brochan came from the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. All the staff were pleasant and they don't seem to be as strict as some other rescues. If it weren't for Brochan (or Bluey as he was known to them) needing a couple of operations (to remove several fatty lumps, his manhood, and to get a tooth pulled), we would have got him the first day we met him. They are based in Portobello, and if you do decide to visit them and need something to eat, there is a fantastic dog friendly bar/restaurant (although dogs are only allowed in the bar area) called the Espy. They make the tastiest burgers I have ever tasted outside. I would highly recommend both it and the EDCH. :)

Thank you ladyearl!! Went downtown canine rescue on Saturday and met a lovely saluki, if all is well we will be adopting him :) I was so impressed with the place, much better that any of the others homes I have visited.
