Alfie is such a little runt, very skinny but full of energy. He refuses to eat dried food so we give him pedigree "Better by nature" and he seems ok on that.

We ran out the other day and so had Tesco's so we had to get regular pedigree - OMG I've never seen so many piles of sick!!

But i'm thinking it's all crap and they should be having proper meat, veg and carbs??

What do you think??

Some tinned food is very rich. Chappie is thought to be good, we fed it to our old JRT and she thrived on it. It is also very cheap! Our current dog gets very itchy if she eats dog food with wheat in, so we give her Burns dried food which we soak in advance. It is very expensive, but fab food. She even smells better!

I'd agree with that

- I personally wouldn't feed pedigree chum.... there are better comercial foods available... like naturediet, burns, applaws etc.

but that may or may not be the reason he is being sick... if it carries on he should prob go to the vet? CALA can give better advice...

ps. Proper food is good for dogs, but you do have to make sure they getting the right nutrients, so wouldn't change him onto natural food without a diet sheet/ advice from a canine nutritionist - or without doing alot of your own research

My dog looks great on it though.

I would say its the change in the diet. Chappie is a really good meat and also the dryed chappie is good. I would starve for 24 hours or give something light then slowly introduce your old food back in.

Agree with everyone else.....it is most certainley the change in diet that has upset him/digestive system.....if u ever run out of food again try something bland until u can get him back on his own diet as already suggested starve for 12-24 hours and reintroduce small amount of familiar diet.
If you want to change his diet completely always introduce it gradually with the origional food....gradually reducing the origional and increasing the new.

Im suprised he has not ended up with raging diarrhoea

At work we advise starve for 24hrs allowing plenty of fresh water to be had. Then a bland diet ie chicken and rice for first couple of small meals and gradually re introduce the normal food backin. Make sure he keeps drinking and if your worried he might be dehydrating make a soloution 1 pint water 1teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sugar and offer this.

Years ago a puppy of mine did that and a couple of days later I found the source - had discovered the horses buckets and been mopping up alfa alfa.
