Beastie has never been a clingy dog, if she wants affection it must be on her own terms.

In the last week or so though she has become increasingly clingy. She doesn't follow me everywhere but if I'm sitting she has to be sitting ON me, not just beside me. I'm currently typing one handed as she is curled into my chest with my arm supporting her!

Nothing has changed in her routine or anything. Anyone any ideas?

Its that diet she has been on - she is going to eat you!!

How old is she? My dog does this just around the time of her season and often before a phantom pregnancy. The only other time she does it is if I have been ill, she sits and cuddles in. The rest of the time she is a mans dog and if my hubby is about I am way down the list of affection!

hmm, not that then!! As I say, the only other time mine has done it is when either she or I have been ill. The rest of the time she is very independent. You've not been worrying or upset about something that she could be picking up on? My mother was very ill with cancer and my sisters dog was extremely affectionate during that time, even though she and I were not actually ill. It was like she was picking up on our upset.

Stella only gets clingy when she's sick, too, or if I've been busy with work.

I have to ask, is everything okay with Beastie's hearing and eyesight? Sometimes a change in those departments can make a dog a bit clingy.
