Dog tags *help!*

I'm sick of buying dog tags! My 3 always lose them because those flimsy little coils that attach them always come off! the latest lot have lasted a grand total of 3 weeks and my CO has already lost hers.. does anybody have any tips, tricks or alternatives? (obviously they are chipped too) is there a way to just print my number on their collars? (2 are leather) that won't come off in water? Or does anybody know someone who makes collars who could do this?

Burn the numbers onto the leather collars witth a pyrograph pen…definitely won’t come off.I also would spray a protective finish onto the burn so they don’t fade.

You can buy personalised collars. Alternatively, just change the ring that the tag is attached to with a much sturdier one.

You can buy brass plates that rivet onto the collar, or collars with engraved nameplates, which I have. You can also get slide on plates, see Amazon, but I haven’t tried those.

Indigo dog tags are brilliant. They are stainless steel and thread on to the collar so can’t come off . I’ve had mine for years and they look as good as new

I have Indigo dog tags as well and they last forever. Only need changing if details change. You can get a lot of info on them too. Mine have my surname, address, two phone numbers and it also says microchipped.

Ours have fabric padded collars made from bamboo with phone number and postcode embroidered onto them. If I could remember who makes them, I would tell you. They were recommended to us by a family member and they are very good

Similar to Indigo but I recently bought one from Engravingstudios.co.uk. It was about £11 and it's brilliant. Smart, wearing better than the cheap dangly ones (!) and I would happily recommend. Postage was really quick too.

Indigo tags, impossible to lose! All of mine have them. They’re renowned for going through cover so needed something that can’t be pulled off if caught on a bramble or something.

Please remember that the law requires the disc/tag has your name and your address on it. A phone number only doesn’t comply with the law although obviously we all want our mobile number on the tag too

Rather than a defect, I think that this might be a design feature.

If your dog's tag gets caught on something, the split ring opens and the dog can pull free.
