Well, today was a first for Molly as, as I am off work on 'holiday' for 2 weeks I went with the parents for a walk in the Dales - specifically Kettlewell. Molly has never done this sort of hike before (ok it was only 4 miles as we have our 15 yo doggie too so can't go too far!) and i was a bit woried re sheep etc as, although i don't think she'd actually ever chase them she is rabbit obsessed so i didn't want her flying about across the countryside and upsetting any livestock in the process!
Anyway, she was really well behaved - i kept her on an extendable lead for a fair bit of the time where I wasn't sure what was about livestock wise but she got a few runs off to play with my parent's dog, she even had her first 'swim' (she never goes out of her depth as she's a big wuss!), ok so she fell in at the river edge as was deeper than she'd realised, and had to be hauled out by me (pretty entertaining just seeing the look of sheer panic on her face!). We had lunch at a pub, subtley skirted round a bull and his cows and she did get to rabbit chase a little bit. All in all a really good day and think she enjoyed herself immensely. She just needs to mature a bit and learn to stay a bit closer to us when off lead which I am sure will come. She always knows where we are and doesn't run away as such but her recall can be selective shall we say!
Anyway, as a result this is her this evening!
Firstly crashed out on her bed
And now out for the count by the fire (with teddy of course!)
Oh and she did 'meet' a sheep as they were in a small paddock we had to cross. To be honest she's not shown any interest before. However, this one decided to take a run at her so scared her just a little bit. ood sign I hope!!
