Any ideas to keep my dogs occupied whilst being left as recently they've had to move rooms as "their room" has been redecorated into a non doggy room and they're now in the kitchen. Silly me left the bin out for starters so now that's been taken away.

Obviously I can't get them a stable mirror/likit/uncly jimmy's treat ball ( LOL) so is there anything else I can do?

I've just filled their Kong toy up with treats but they're blatantly going to be able to get them out in 5 minutes lol. I've also tried filling it up with peanut butter or something else I read but they weren't fans.

Anyone got any ideas? They're always left with bones/chew toys but aren't interested in "usual" toys at the moment and have never been the type of dogs to have "favourite toys" or generally be excited by toys in general (they only play with squeaky toys until they've destroyed them in 10 minutes and the squeak has gone then they never touch them again) lol.

Last week I called into pound stretcher who had a pet hut attached- not sure if they all do?
They had treat balls that you put dried food in, they also had wooden things like a board with food hidden and the dog had to figure out how to open the little doors and get the reward. It was quite good :)

kong wobblers are great my dogs love them

also normal kongs can be filled with tinned meat(chappie is ok for this and pretty 'safe') then you can pop them in the freezer-they do small but the dogs love thme too-mine get these outside.

you can also get a machine that fires balls for the dogs, you have to teach the dog to put the ball in the machine and then the game never ends so may not suit some dogs.

there are bubble machines you can get too and you can buy bacon flavoured bubbles.

the best thing though is very tired dogs, my lurcher just sleeps when left but if left in the kitchen the cupboards would be bare as she is the most food motivated theif I have ever met

Rubber Kong filled with a meaty or cheesy paste (soft cheese or cheap pate) which will tale ages to get it all out. There are treat balls, but get the cube ones with the rounded off corners, the completely round ones drive you mad rattling around the room and bouncing off the skirting boards.

There are loads of different food toys now, have a look here http://www.traininglines.co.uk/treat-dispensing-toys/

I had a huge collection of them and varied it each day, obviously using their meal rations to fill as well as low fat extras. Be careful if you are using with multiple dogs though, monitor it and make sure they are happy to play around each other before leaving them together with them.

Kongs have all sorts of stuff that can go in them, and you can freeze them too to make them last longer.

But I agree the most effective is definitely tiring them out physically and/or mentally before leaving them, then they can just sleep!
