I thought some of you may be interested in this.
I am not going to comment, just thought it is interesting.ihttp://www.dogwelfarecampaign.org/

I agree and disagree.

It's a press release, not a scientific document, for a start, with no quotes from any human beings to make it interesting, personal and relevant (I write press releases myself, that's shoddy!)

I realise what some people are saying - my friend's dad used to alpha-roll a tiny collie puppy because he saw it on telly - utterly stupid, useless and potentially very dangerous.

However I know some dogs which have responded well to "aversive" training.
*some* dogs need a firmer hand because of their behaviour (more often than not allowed, exaggerated and promoted by humans, unwittingly or otherwise) and that is from my own personal experience.
I'd rather be firm with a dog than have a dead one because one day, it went too far.

Flash12, would be nice to see you come on board and give some advice to those who need it and seek it on this board, you obviously have the experience, rather than sticking to the same topic all the time
