Anything we can do? Best charities to support? Will any need fostering? Heartbreaking on every level.
Gosh that’s so awful as is everything else. I will look thank you.Probably best to send money as they are accepting human supplies before pet supplies at a lot of drop-off points, meaning people with vans full of pet food have to wait and a lot of people are donating more stuff than small teams can pack or transport.
I know a few guys who have gone over in vans and plan to bring dogs out once they've unloaded. A few of my mates in Europe are trying to help place dogs, the sports community is pretty small and everyone is pulling together.
One of the Ukrainian competitors at the world championships in Spain last year is fighting on the streets on Kharkiv, another guy who I didn't know but we have mutual friends, his van was shot up early on as he tried to escape, they killed two dogs and the third escaped and was found beside his body.
I'd just do a search on Google or FB and see which charities close to you are doing a bit. Even covering the cost of fuel will help.
Thank you. There's a few teams on the Romanian and Moldova sides helping people with pets cross,
at the borders, but they're only letting animals over with their owners.
Off the top of my head there's 'saved by the vet' (on Facebook and Instagram, no website) and 'four paws' (have Facebook and a website iirc) doing this I think, I'll have a look later and get links and stuff for you.
I'm not associated with any of these organisations and cannot vouch for them so if course please be careful where you send your money. (Not that I'm saying you won't be, please don't take this the wrong way).
That’s fab thank you.Four Paws NGO have teams on the ground helping both zoo animals and strays:

sorry it took me a while to get round to posting these, I'll put more up as/when I find them. Thank you for wanting to help x
what organisation did you use to donate? Trying to collate as many potential routes of aid in one place for peopleI've donated dog and cat wet and dry food, along with medical supplies for woman and children. It's going to Ukraine tomorrow, via Holland.
The contrast between the lives of animals there, and my pampered ones here, is heartbreaking.

I know this applies no no one on here but I've just watched a heartbreaking video from a guy delivering aid who can go as far as Lviv to bring dogs out.
He keeps being sent videos of starving dogs beyond Kyiv and it isn't safe for him to go there.
He is asking people to stop sending him videos of dogs he knows he can't help, he seemed very upset.
He has been in a queue for hours also
