Dog walkers!!!

Was on a lovely hack this morning with Bud behaving perfectly and Roxy (my border collie) running along beside us. Came to a track where a lady was walking. Asked Bud to halt and Roxt to sit next to me. Both did as they were told when Bud suddenly shoots forward. The lady walking along the track had let her dog into a private field next door, it jumped through a hedge and straight into Buds back legs!!! He obvioulsy cantered forward and the woman shouted at me for not being able to control my horse. He went forwards 2 strides! How about keeping a dog on a lead or letting us j=know it's there? At least he didn't kick iT!

You could have shut her up by asking for her name and address and if you need a vet for cuts you will send her the bill as she should have been in control of her dog.

I like the idea of sending her a vet's bill! I might try that next time. The hack was on the farms land - there are notices saying dogs must be kept under control.
It was only 2 weeks ago our farm prosecuted a man for his 2 dogs being out of control. Nobody was hurt but the 2 dogs chased a young horse and teenage girl. The man they prosecuted claimed to have been in control of them, but they wouldn't come to call.
