Hi there!!!

I've been a lurker for a while, I've finally decided to be brave and join in now I have a question to ask!!!

My husband and I are considering moving to Alnwick in Northumberland. We've been there loads on holiday and love the area, however we've never had the dogs with us when we've been before.

I'm having a bit of trouble finding any good information about local dog walking spots, other than the fact both Hulne Park and Alnwick Gardens now don't even allow dogs in on leads :( I know there was talk of dogs being banned from various beaches in the summer months as well.

Is there anyone here who can shed some light on how dog friendly it is there? Ideally we'd like somewhere within walking distance of the town for quick, off-lead walks and also somewhere within about 15 minutes drive or so that'll allow for a good few hours of off lead walking as well.

I'm not so sure about Alnwick as we usually stop further round, but nearly all the beaches round there are dog friendly all year round. I don't know about more specific dog walks but they have to be there :D I'd love to move up there but it's too far for OH to be away from his kids so he wont do it

FAb area, we went on holiday there this year with three dogs. Cheviot hills are lovely, can walk all day and not see a soul and beaches are all v. dog friendly. Good luck with move, am very jealous

Can't help around Alnwick, but if you go up the road to Rothbury there's good walks headed up the Coquet valley to Alwinton.

Also, plenty of places for those further afield walks of a weekend.....Kielder Water and Forest, for instance.

I'm jealous................................
