Dog Whistle - Is there a set language?

As above really for a cocker spaniel so for a 'gundog' (ha). At the minute she gets a short peep peep peep for recall. Just wondering if there was standard whistles for recall and other commands.

Any help much appreciated.

For us we have:

One long blast for a stop (we're working on it)

Two pips for a turn

Four pips for a recall

One blast is generally a stop, think the others I have are fairly standard but there is no set rule and I think most people have their own variations:)
 
We tried a whistle when we first had my ESS but she took no notice of it, so just trained on a long line with sausages and she comes now, really good, don't need all the other stuff as she's not a working dog, as long as I have recall I'm happy, she'll wait when I say wait and stuff like that.
 
One peep for a stop and two for recall. Seems to work well until something really exciting like a hare or deer pops up - cue me blowing away like Thomas the Tank when the boys are 4 fields away :rolleyes:
 
We have been practising in the garden (smallish garden) and whistle recall is far better than voice even with the distractions of husband and rabbit. We are doing three peeps to recall. We have also learnt the wait while the dummy is thrown then 'go' to fetch it, whistle for 'recall' to come back to me with it. *smart @rse dance*
However, with 5' fences it is a focused environment. HA! but got long-line to take it outside the 'zone'.

That sounds great! You start at home then work up to the great outdoors:) Long line included;)

Stop is just sit to the whistle blast, you start by saying the word and then blasting the whistle as they sit, and then eventually you can dispense with the words. You can teach it with a toy as well. One step at a time though, hey;)
