Hello,
My 7 year old lab has started limping this evening and is gradually getting worse. He has been out for his usual walk (over fields and tracks) this morning and has been running about the garden most of the day (nothing more than usual). He then had his dinner and went for a snooze, when he got up this is when the limping started.
He has slight swelling on his hind pastern and shows discomfort when you touch/bend his hock.

I will of course be taking him to the vet first thing tomorrow was just wondering if there is anything i should be doing to help tonight?

I have been putting an ice pack on the area but this does not seem to help much.

Any help greatly appreciated.

keep him warm and comfortable, last wee on a lead or in a restricted area, same in the morning thn off to the vets!!!! have you checked for thorns/puncture wounds? hope all is weel after your vet trip in the morning. sounds like he might have pulled or twisted something.

Sounds like he has 'tweaked' something.
Keep him on the lead and no tight turns. If he doesn't walk it off within a 24 hr period then get him checked by vet.
Vet will prob just give a jab of anti-infam to see if it helps.
Hope he is OK.

He is currently lying in front of the fire looking very sorry for himself. Just hoping it was chasing one to many rabbits and will be better in the morning. Have checked all his leg and pads for any cuts or thorns but nothing noticeable. Just wish he could have a nurofen like the rest of us!
