I have a collie x who turned 13 yesterday. For a while now he has suffered with really really bad sneezing attacks, but they never seemed to bother him. Just recently he has started with nasal discharge, just from one nostril - occasionally it is pink, which I think is tinged with blood. Apart from licking his nose a lot it doesn't seem to bother him. He is booked in to go to the vets on Tuesday about it but I've had a few dogs and never anything like this. Any ideas what it might be. I'm really worried about him. Thanks

It could be anything from a nasal polyp to an allergy only a vet can tell you, my friends Springer had a nasal discharge which the vet treated for months, they took swabs( he did have an infection)scanned and they still didnt get to the bottom of it. He is now on steroids which controls it but if he gets excited he starts snorting and snot goes everywhere. Hope your vet finds its something easy to diagnose and treat.

Thanks - I did consider allergy and I have some Piriton which I was going to give him, but thought I'd see what the vet says first. Also the fact that the snot is unilateral led me away from thinking it was allergy related.....
