Does anyone do this for their dogs and just worm according like with horses?

I have had a Quick Look and prices seem a lot more expensive than horses

I get Clovers poo tested for lungworm and faecel eggs every 3 months, means I don't have to flea and worm her every month. About £45 combined for both tests.

Does it cover everything? I don’t think horse egg counts cover tapeworm? But that may have changed.

Important to note that lungworm is usually an add on test for canine faecal worm counts (it's not listed on Skinnydippers results above for example), it's endemic in many areas of the UK now and can be fatal if left untreated.

Thank you Druid. Yes, I would have to do the lungworm one as well as we are in a bad area for it, in fact I was thinking I might do it on its own regularly and the other one at longer intervals.

I am a little bit worried about the accuracy of the tests from some labs. We have just had an instance of somebody at the stables using a local feed merchant's testing service who also had her vet do the worm count a few days later as the results from the first one were taking ages to come back and she got a low result from the vets and a high one from the feed merchants. I know worms lay eggs in cycles but the discrepancy was huge.

A friend of mine has a dog who was eventually diagnosed with fox lungworm.

The dog was really unwell. Could barely exercise without having breathing difficulties. He was referred to a specialist and it took ages to finally get a diagnosis and thousands of pounds spent.

She was at the stage of considering having him euthanised before they finally found the cause, because his quality of life was so poor.

He is so, so much improved, but appears to have lasting damage and isn't the same dog he once was.
