Hoover had more teeth out on Friday, including his two top canine teeth (ouch!) which although they needed to come out were obviously quite deep rooted etc. Vet said she had packed those two and one other tooth to stem the bleeding, as well as some dissolveable stitches for other extractions

I've noticed the packing hasn't come out yet, which I expected it would - I am tempted to leave it until it comes out naturally, or would you remove it after a few days?

Depends what the vet packed it with. Some types of packing are designed to stay in and just dissolve. Have you got a check up at some point that you can ask?

Not at the moment, but my vets are used to me phoning them to ask numerous questions! She did say the stitches were dissolvable , which I would expect, but the packing was more to clot the bleeding so I don't think it is meant to be dissolveable. Might give them a call tomorrow to check :)

I would ring them if you are at all concerned, they might also be surprised its still in place, I wouldn't attempt to take it out myself without their say so.

Thanks DG I will ring them tomorrow - I'm really surprised both packings for the canine teeth appear to be in place, he is eating like the proverbial horse and I had expected them to fall out when he had a meal

And the vets said..... leave them be :) If they are still there when everything has settled down and all the swelling has gone down (Hoov looks like a hamster still) then we can remove them then
