Just taken delivery of special toothpaste for dog with plaque allergy. Over £10 a tube plus £3.99 packaging(jiffy bag!) i was at least expecting a tube the size of normal peoples toothpaste, but no its tiny! And the little so and so disappears every time I approach to use it !

Ouch, if it is that expensive, I hope that it at least is effective.

I presume that you have to be very vigilant with brushing, if your dog is plaque allergic. I occasionally buys toothpaste to my bitches, but I have to admit that most of the time I just dip the toothbrush head in some water, before brushing their teeth. I also have a toothscrape in metal, which I use to try and remove any plaque which have "escaped" the brush.

I'm fortunate that all my 3 bitches likes food so much, that they will come to me to have their teeth brushed with my electric toothbrush (their head have a pink ring on it, and mine have a yellow), in exchange for a small piece of meat.

I have found Logic toothpaste to be very effective, the plaque, I buy the individual sachets but you can buy tubes which are a reasonable size. I find one sachet does both JRTs and their teeth stay really clean using it a couple of times a week - I think 30 sachets were £11.99 + £1.99 postage from petshop.co.uk - some other sites are more expensive.

We use plaque off from pets at home, it's a powder you put in their food. Our dog seems to like the taste and the vet always comments on her clean teeth. The pot is £20 something but it lasts us about 6 months.
