I already have a cat who is pretty timid.

With my change in circumstances haveing to sell Red possibly im thinking of getting a dog.

Im not bothered what breed or sex just a medium size nothing too big and nothing too small.

What are the chances of picking up an older dog that is good with cats?

I have been looking at rescue dogs.

Anyone got any advice for me?

Most of the larger (and reputable) rescue associations will have something in that has lived with cats in a previous life. If you dont seem to be able to find one near you, it might be worth letting them know you are looking and asking them to contact you if they get one in that might be suitable
(although some are not willing to contact you at all, others will if you have a good reason for needing something specific and not necessarily easy to home, rather than asking them to be in touch with the next grey kitten or white longhaired puppy).

You should be able to find a rescue dog that has been living with cats.......Its just a little difficult when u get a dog from rescue kennels as the staff are given little information in regard to the dogs past.

Look into rescues that have adoptees that keep the dogs in their homes whilst awaiting perminant homes.

We keep all our rescues in a home environment....and even if they come in unfamiliar with cats.......they certainly go out familiar with them
