Dog has eaten a small what I think was a milky way type bar complete with wrapper. Local kids drop loads of stuff outside the shop and I usually manage to keep him away. Managed to get my fingers on the end of the wrapper as it went down but couldn't stop it. Hes like a hoover. Should I get him to the vet straight away or is it not enough to do damage.
Im constantly in the vets lately with this dog, might as well let them keep my debit card.
 
I wouldn't panic unless you know your dog is very sensitive, the amount of actual chocolate in bars of that type is minimal, it is the decent chocolate with a high proportion of chocolate that is a real issue.
 
I wouldn't worry, just keep an eye on him.

It is only in large amounts that chocolate and cocoa products can be toxic to dogs. The toxic component of chocolate is theobromine. Humans easily metabolize theobromine, but dogs process it much more slowly, allowing it to build up to toxic levels in their system. Cocoa, cooking chocolate and dark chocolate contain the highest levels, while milk chocolate and white chocolate have the lowest.
 
He seems to be OK, I nipped out for some charcoal biscuits because I read that vets would probably give them charcoal!
This dog is doing my head in with his various ailments, I think he should be renamed a calamity spaniel not clumber, or clumsy as
my neighbour calls him ! He is at least building my knowledge of dog problems as we seem to be covering things that Ive not had to deal with before !
