We have a JRT who seems to be getting more and more jumpy about loud noises. It seems to be getting worse rather than better. When she gets like it we don't molly coddle her, just let her get into a place she feels secure like behind the sofa with a blanket or under the bed. Turn the tele or radio up and shut the curtains, the usual. We thought seeing that our other dog wasn't bothered by it would help but the fact he doesn't react makes no difference to her.

Any suggestions and has anyone ever tried one of those CDs with sounds of things like thunderstorms and fireworks on with their dog? It cannot be good for her, she starts panting like a mad thing, cowers in the corner and her heart races.

Thanks

Sounds like you are doing everything u can to make her feel secure...maybe try a dap diffuser...it releases a calming pheromone...u can plug it into the room she is in..or a dap collar maybe...its a very common problem in dogs, I actually use sedatives for for older whippet as she gets really stressed when it thunders.
