Anyone got any ideas why all my dogs are obsessed with eating the dying rambling rose in my garden? It is going to get chopped back to ground level in autumn to re-grow, but they are determined to chew it to pieces first!
Dont know about rose bushes, but friends greyhound has just dragged indoors a load of the pond weed that she had cleared out that morning and deposited it all over the pale lilac carpet and her bed and herself. They are obviously keen gardeners !
I thought bone meal but if you had used some it would be on the ground, not on the stems. Sorry, no idea. I would have expected them to be hurt by the thorns but they must be clever enough to avoid them. Weird.

I thought exactly the same - I keep expecting them to be injured, but nothing! It is so odd, there must be some smell or taste they are reacting to 😳
I have never tried chewing on a rose stem but the mention of rosehips makes me wonder whether it tastes sweet? Two of my dogs really love sweet stuff. Off to find a rosebush in the morning.
