Is there an easy way to teach Daisy to do stiles? At the moment if there's not gap at the bottom we have to lift her over it but she clearly doesn't enjoy that and when she's cover in mud neither do we!

We taught ours do to them in Durham, where they had to climb over a wall on the stile, just baby steps and treats. In Essex they can't make head nor tail of them. :-)

Have just used food or encouragement in the past. Current dog likes to climb things so it hasn't been so difficult, the problem has been getting him not to launch himself from great heights lol so asking him to be steady/careful.

The big dogs got taught with food, they twigged pretty quickly but since starting agility they've refined their technique a bit and now jump rather than scramble.

Little spaniel wears an equafleece in the winter and gets hoiked over by grabbing that. :D Something like the Ruffwear Webmaster harness would work the same for a larger dog.

baby steps and treats. I teach all my dogs a 'walk on' command-means just take a step or two forward-its useful for grooming (when I had hairier dogs) and all sorts of things. Quarrie had to tackle some quite tricky stiles when we were away, I suspect when he's bigger he'll just want to jump them.

It depends on the style of stile :D There are quite a few different varieties, but I would teach an "over" command on small obstacles initially (clicker or marker training is good for this kind of work) and then build up to stiles.

I have also found it easier to allow the dog to find his own way over rather than trying to help, as that inevitably ends with a face plant or some kind of injury!

Unfortunately they ted to be rather unhelp two piece or wood perpendicular to the fence/wall type stiles. We've been doing some work on jumping over logs/horse jumps etc so will keep going with the and hopefully it will eventually translate!
