Hello, last week my terrier got stung by a wasp in his ears mouth and close to his eye. We ended up at the emergency vets as he was sick and then very lathargic and his face was all swollen. Today he has been stung again. He shot off after a rabbit and came back tail between his legs and lay in the middle of the field (I thought the rabbit had bitten him!!) When i stroked him I found a wasp in his fur and today he has been stung on his tail and back and maybe ear!

I called the vet and they suggested piriton. He seems much better now, although is in bed tail firmly between legs! I have been to tesco and sainsburys and niether have piriiton, only piritese.

Does anyone have any other suggestions. Of course if he seems very uncomfortable or having breathing issues he will go to the vets.

I was going to suggest Piriton, so I'm no use at all really.

I was stung by a wasp today and my god it hurts like hell :o I feel horrible for being so unsympathetic when the dog gets stung!

I think you have to get Piriton from a pharmacy, our Tesco's does sell them but only from behind the pharmacy counter. They worked really quickly when my dog was stung.

Epi pen? A friend of a friend's lab was covered in wasps when he disturbed a nest: she dashed him to the vet and the vet gave her an epi pen for emergency. Might save a few quid and the panic of having to get to the vet quickly.

As an emergency action when a dog/horse is first stung, vinegar will take the pain out of it. Obviously it wont help with allergic reaction but I always kept bicarbonate of soda for bee stings and vinegar for wasps in the horses medical box.
