Given all the loose dogs round the course this year and the incident with the camera quad/loose dog/rider, do you think its time that dogs were banned from the grounds?

At the end of every year's event it's brought up but as yet it's yet to happen. I doubt they'd ban them completely from the grounds though, if anything it would just be from the XC course.

I was talking to my OH about this as we watched it. He queried that surely it would have to be introduced throughout the levels otherwise there'd be a fuss, as its such common place. LT Downham put on their website and bdwp no dogs on the XC.
I agree tbh, its not the first time I've seen a dog loose, and I think Aaron did very well to keep his horses focus. I've seen loose dogs at Intro level, and I think it's more affecting then. It sounds awful but horses at that [4*] level should have pretty much seen it all, and more than likely HAVE seen it all.

But yes, certainly agree that dogs shouldn't be allowed on the XC, maybe not as far as not allowed at events as some people HAVE to take their dogs. We tie our old beagle up with a 3 / 4m length rope to the ramp hinge or the living steps and she's quite happy.

i think that the rider did VERY well to keep his horses focus when that dog was chasing them...

and (i know its not dogs) but that camera man (that upset that horse at the hsbc hexagon hedges making the horse lose his focus and have a refusal) should not have popped out from behind that tree/bush, they should have been out in the open and not upset the horse...

i do agree that they cannot ban dogs completley...but possibly could do for the xc day...or introduce LARGE fines for any dogs caught lose

lose dogs are very dangerous, and something should be done about it xx

tbh it wouldnt bother me or my horse if we had a dog running along side after all he is used to hounds and tbh if the dog got injured owners fault i agree with large fines. i think the fine should be donated to RSPCA no one would let there dog off lead then cos no one would want to donate to them lol

I think you're missing the point, JC. It would only take the dog nipping in to bite the bring the horse down, possibly killing both horse and rider.

It's beyond acceptable at any level of event.

TBH I think badminton without dogs would be a real shame, so many people take their dogs and are very careful about keeping them on a lead - why ban them just because a few people can't ?

I agree lose dogs are a danger, but banning wouldn't be my answer to the problem. A charge for bringing dogs or a fine for lose ones maybe, not a complete ban!

There were so many dogs at Badders I actually thought I'd turned up at Crufts instead

I don't think you could ban them - people go out for the whole day, with no-one to look after pets at home.

DO think that you could charge entry for dogs, and also NO DOGS WITHOUT A HARNESS (as opposed to collar and lead) and HUGE fine for loose dogs - especially on the course!!!!!
