This probably sounds ridiculous if its not true, but Iv read somewhere that dogs dig sometimes if they are too hot. My westie has been digging alot lately, not holes, just digging at her bed, or if shes dozing on my bed she'll just start frantically digging at the duvet for no reason....

Henry does this but I thought he was just being daft. Barney used to dig down to cool wet sand when we went to the beach though!

My labrador does this. She scratches at the back door mat for about 3 minutes every night! However, that's all year round so I guess she just likes the sensation on her feet!

Oh yes. Totally normal. They really do. The dog yard looks like a building site after a hot day,I keep a shovel and broom there ready to fill it all in and spoil their fun.

All of my dogs do it. The GSD has undermined the patio in the dog yard and we have to relay it all.

This is the Bouvier mix, not a small dog, he'll excavate anything up to 2' deep and just lies there all day.
