I have noticed a brown area on the lens of my dogs eye this afternoon. It's below the pupil but on the surface infront of the iris. He's a golden retriever & not quite 2 years old. Any ideas what it is? Think i'll take him to vets on monday as a precaution. Eye is fine - no discharge or anything. Help!!

Is it weepy or watering or inflamed/sore looking? Is doggie bothered by it? Scraping at it with a paw? I'm pretty certain that golden retreivers are prone to inward turning eyelashes? Could be the beginning of that but I'd do the same as with horse eye problems - vet to be on the safe side as eye's are too precious. Let us know how he gets on x

Nope he's not bothered by it at all. Could have been there forever. Had never noticed it before yesterday but you can only see it when you look across his eye. Yeah I think he'll be going to the vets just to be safe.

Managed to get an appointment Sat afternoon - is apparently a pigment type patch on the cornea & nothing to worry about
