Hello
I just checked my dogs gum, she is a rescue aged 11 yrs, she had a full dental and a few teeth removed earlier this year she also had cruciate surgery in June this year, but just looked at her gums and they look very weird and swollen 🫤 I’ll take her to my vets tomorrow but does anyone have any suggestions as to her gums? I’m terrified it’s a cancer 😢Thank you, a very worried doggy mummy x

Ok. Take a breath. It could be lots of things.

Whatever it is your vet will have a plan. She’s not very old so fingers crossed. Let us know won’t you.

Ok so vet said her gums were normal and some older dogs develop gums like she has so that was good 👍 but she was concerned she was anaemic so took a blood test. Sophie was slightly anaemic back in September but that time the vet and I put it down to her recovering from a severe stomach upset after anesthetic when she had an X-ray. I’ll get the results on Monday hopefully and fingers crossed 🤞 but for now I’m massively relieved she does not have a tumour in her gum. The vet was lovely she even shed a few tears when I did when I was so relieved 😊

Ok. Well. It might not be s as nothing. It might just be her. It’s not far out.

My brother has terminally low blood pressure. I mean they literally can’t quite believe it!! It’s just him. Been like it since they started taking it.

Hopefully they’ll find nothing. X

Hi all, so Sophie had a scan today, her spleen looks irregular so she had a fine needle aspiration as well as bloods they are sending both for analysis. I inquired what her red blood count was in May as I remembered she had bloods then before her knee X-ray it was 54 and is now 32. I’m pretty worried to be honest but Sophie thoroughly loved all the cuddles she got from the vet nurses bless her heart 🥰

Update Sophie’s spleen test results show inflammation markers so she has inflammation somewhere we just don’t know where 🫤 her bloods just showed mild anaemia. However the past week she has been sick a couple of time (bile) and is off her food yesterday she ate around a quarter of what she would usually have. We went back to vets yesterday they suspected pancreatitis so did another blood test results this morning it was negative. She is on anti sickness pills and Omeprazole. It’s all a bit of a worry as she’s losing weight now. Vets are calling me Thursday to see if she is any better or worse. Any ideas anyone? Thank you x

Thanks PP bloods are not showing infection, they already scanned all her abdomen and the only thing which looked unusual was her spleen which was biopsied 🫤 if she’s no better in a few days think said they will have to refer her 😕 the not knowing is really stressful. She had an X-ray of her oesophages earlier this year when she went through a period of sicking up undigested food and that was clear.

a friend just had something similar with her westie

was ill sept. off her food sick. vet gave antiemetic and she seemed to get better

fast forward December 1st. very ill sick dog. referred to animal hospital.

they couldn't work it out but found calcified 'lump' of something in stomach. operated. dog now slowly recovering although they didn't expect her to survive.

no idea what caused the 'lump' thing
