Dogs in hot weather.......

Poor dog. I have just put a cool coat on Dylan, my short haired whippet/ greyhound cross as he had started panting while laying down in the living -room. The longer haired ones seem fine.

Poor love 😞

We didn’t walk the dogs we had in today. Just kept them at home in the shade. Just not worth the risk.

I walked at 7am and have been keeping them out of the garden for the rest of the day - they will still insist on going out to try and sunbathe! Amy feels the heat most, I suppose because she is the oldest, so I’ve been putting her in the paddling pool and washing her down today - she hasn’t objected 😊

To be fair....it may have been the time in the van more so then the actual walk in this case.
How well do you think a van is set up in the uk with standard aircon...with multiple dogs in the back..ventilates during a heatwave?
With excitment and stress the temp will start to skyrocket as well...then add a walk or run on top and its the pefect storm for tipping them over the edge into danger levels.

Poor dog though! Heatstroke is awful.

I’m fascinated how the owner is quick to blame the dog walker. If you know your dog is heat sensitive anyway, surely a quick text to the walker to say don’t walk the dog please or just let out in garden would have been appropriate?

Saying that, the dog walker also should have known better.

Oh yes.... but of course greyhound racing isn’t cruel 🤬🤬🤬

Not Much!
Last week I was reading a statement on fb that Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound stadium had put out about how well they look after the hounds during the hot weather. The forecast temperature was 27 degrees, which apparently was quite ok but if the temperature reached 34 degrees, they would suspend racing until it reached an acceptable level. So its fine to race them at 33 degrees then? I could barely crawl to the freezer for ice creams when the temperature was in the 30s last week.
