Dogs In Need Of Space UK

I really like the non judgemental and friendly way the advice is given.

Well done to your friend.

Cool. Thanks guys. She has worked closely with the woman who does this in America. You may all recognise Dexie!!

I saw this on the other forum and thought what a good site, lots of good information put over in a non condenscending way.

Anyone with a Dinos dog will also find they are not alone as it is a isolating behaviour and im sure a lot of dog owners whose dog suffers from it gets up really early to avoid other dogs.

Lexie tell your friend well done and I ashamed to say I didnt recognise Dex:(

I like Lilly, I want her to be my friend and I will protect her from scary things!

I sadly do not have a dog but I am often surprised that some dogs are allowed off the lead, I was out with horsey on a bridleway the other day and thankfully dogs are one of the FEW things she is not scared of, but we had a black lab come up to us bearing its teeth, growling and barking and literally would not let us past and I actually thought it might bite if we continued.

The owner was apologetic but I just thought, I sympathise, but what if the horse WAS scared by this behaviour, I would have been on the ground and the horse would be off!

I was just reading the dog walking rules and imagine that some of these DINOS dogs may feel similarly panicked if confronted by such behaviour!

Really good site, just wish all dog owners would read this!

I think my dog is currently 'in recovery' and we are only getting there through consistent, daily positive interaction. We've avoided other dogs for ages, we now can't really avoid them so we're hvaing to make progress. I now tend to shout across to other owners that he might bark at their dog, but won't hurt them, and is that OK, will their dog cope with a yappy terrier? Most people say that's fine, so he is able to interact, I can relax about it, and the incidences of him barking at other dogs have massively reduced.

Interestingly, I met someone with a staffy whose dog does exactly the same - just barks at other dogs - but she has real problems with people saying it's a staffy so it's aggressive, and people avoiding the dog anyway because of the breed, which makes things harder in terms of giving it good experiences.

DG_ Cant believe you ddnt recognise his gingerness!

Mandwhy- Lilly is a proper princess, Max is her protector. My dog dexie tries to sneak in kisses at all times, lilly gives him such awful looks!! :)

Lexie now Ive gone back and looked and read it its Dex alright:D the only criticism I would have with the site is the writing over the photos makes is hard to read for an old biddy like me.:(:D

Great site, well done! I find it really stressful walking one of my lurchers as he is fear agressive and try to avoid other dogs constantly which doesn't make fir very relaxed, enjoyable dog walking :(

Would love to be able to help him.
