hi, here we go again the ongoing battle with those horrible little b*ggers,

we have done the collars, powders, shampoo, drops, sprays, pantomime
& STILL THEY COME BACK!!..... ARE THEY SPONSERED BY READERS DIGEST OR SOME DOUBLE GLAZING FIRM,

does anyone have a new angle? a new product?

i have considered using the BUTOX i got for the horses, because the DELTAMETHRINE in it is also in the advantix collar and a few other medications, used on dogs with success, but i can not find any idea on a safe dose, the butox is the 7.5 pour on type,

are there any vets or chemists out there who can help? i have 2 German shepherds and a cocker spaniel, their flea bill is just stupid this year.

Apparently feeding garlic helps, capsules or powder in the food malarky.

The frontline works for mine

This year is going to be horrid for fleas and ticks. I've trialled some of the stuff you get from pet shops. Put very simply: they DO NOT WORK. Frontline or Advantage is your only bet. Personally, I wouldn't like to put anything on my dog that wasn't specifically licensed for canine.

Henry has a Scalibor tick collar on and is Frontlined, and fingers crossed he has been clear of fleas since I had him and free of ticks since he got the collar. Both come from the vet so are a bit pricey but worth it Ithink!

I have 8 dogs and 18 cats and have always used frontline spot on and now the frontline combo and have never had a problem with fleas or ticks and I live on a farm and the cats are all house cats now - don't ask!! If you use it as it says on the packet you should be fine. Don't give your dogs a bath for 3 days before or after using it though. Also regularly hoover their beds and spray your house with a spray designed for it to help get on top of them until the frontline starts working. You can buy frontline spot on online and it's fairly cheap. Shampoos and the like never really work very well at all neither do powders.

I must be very very lucky - I've had dogs all my life and have never had a dog which has had fleas (except for Flick when I got her out of the rescue kennels!)

I always use Frontline if they have come out of kennels though, it seems to work the best
