) and in the show jumping yesterday took the wrong course in the jump off... we were going so well as well!

So has any one got any tips learning tests/ courses?? I walk them so many times and it just doesn't fix in my head when i actually compete...

Oh god it's my worse nightmare, I am so intent on remembering where I am going I forget how to ride/jump!

For me I'm sure it's an age thing .. that's what I blame it on anyway!

It doesn't seem to matter how much I practice a dressage test at home - as soon as I go into the arena it goes back to front on me!
As for forgetting sj courses, my last disaster was our final rc sj comp - we were lying joint first in the league and needed to win the last class to take the championship - and you guessed it - I jumped the wrong last jump which was adjacent to the correct one! And my time was the quickest..............!!
My instructor says that the more you do it the easier it is to remember where you are going, but as I have been competing for the last 20 yrs, am not convinced of her theory!
My favourite discipline is xc as it tends to be in straight lines and I can count the numbers down as I jump!

Thank goodness for callers in dressage and i have no excuse for showjumping ................. you are not on your own. Infact you have made me feel a whole lot better x

I'm a bugger for forgetting my sj course, especially if I haven't been out for a while. I build a course at home and practise, and practise! I build the jumps and I get my mum to decide the route. I try and change it alot too and do a jump off course coz I'm rubbish at remembering them!

Me too! Find indoor SJ the worst. Its true it does get slightly better over time but the worst thing I find is when you do a second class and they change the course again!
