Doing a bit of local showing

Now that my horse is mended and so is my trailer, I am dying to get out and do some stuff.

I have never been a fan of showing, too subjective, but am thinking of doing some low key local stuff for fun and to get us going again. Will prob do a show hunter class, maybe something else suitable if there is anything. I don't show usually so don't have the right tack, like a showing saddle. Am I better doing it in a GP saddle or my dressage saddle? My tack is all the wrong colour for showing anyway so the wrong saddle would just be one more thing to add to the list

I also do local level showing and use a jumping saddle as it is the only one I have, and judges have never commented on it so I wouldnt worry too much.
I do classes such as Family Pony, M&M and Best Ridden so don't have any experience of Show Hunters, but this link may be helpful to help you decide which saddle to use!!

I would imagine either would be fine, whichever suits your horse best and he goes well in!

GP is better on a hunter type as long as not too forward cut, partiuc if judge is riding, dressage saddles tend to be a bit individual in the way they fit the rider!
Don't forget to take off your bling - plain browband is a must!
RC horse/WH if your horse jumps, equitation or best rider if not,

I don't own any bling so no worries on that count! I can't stand it, my horse has a nice plain bridle!

It'll only be little local shows so doubt the judge would be riding. We might do some WH or RC horse later on in the year but both lost our nerve a bit jumping so got to get back in to it. I just want to do something fun that won't tax him too much as he's just getting back on track having had both hocks medicated for spavin.

I can't quite work out which classes he should be going in TBH as he doesn't quite fit any of the types. If I can sort out my jumping nerves then we'll do some WH but in the meantime, where do you put an IDxTB who really does look like half and half (and who is 17.1hh BTW

)?!
