We lost our beloved 12hh Welsh Sect A just over a month ago. We're not going to go back to such small ponies - my daughter has moved on to 148s. I can't bear to sell his rugs etc - but I can't keep them either. I'd like to be able to give them to a horse rescue place.

We're based in Surrey. Can anyone reccommend a nearby horse rescue that is not the RSPCA? WHW and Ada Cole are a bit far away - although I'll make the trek if I have to.

Sorry about losing your pony.

Sussex Horse Rescue Trust is in Uckfield. Still a bit of a trek though.

I will be up at an Adult Gymkhana on Sunday 18th Nov at Sands Farm near Horsham. If you wanted to meet me there I would be happy to drop them off for you. I am based near Brighton and have my boy on loan from the Sussex Horse Rescue Trust. So I am often dropping things off for them.

So sorry to hear about your pony.

There was a lady on here asking for small bits and headcollars a while ago for donkeys abroad. If you have any you want to get rid of i will dig her details out for you.

Try a smaller rescue centre - I find the large ones are more likely to say thank you very much and then sell them on to raise funds.

Although at least the money is still going to a good cause I suppose!

Thats what I wanted - a small place where they would actually be used. If I wanted them sold I could do it - I'd just love to think that his rugs were keeping something that really needed it warm at night!

But I can't seem to find any locally. Possibly because land prices are so high here that it isn't practical.

Tiga71 - thanks for the offer. Not sure what we're up to on the 15th but we're not planning to be at Sands. Gymkhana would blow Sj pony's brians! (If he had any...) I'll PM you.

how about the Horse Rangers at Hampton Court? They do RDA and are always grateful for help :)

... or Heathrow special needs farm on the West side of the airport who also do RDA.

They're both fab charities and look after their animals well.

I'd forgotton about that special needs farm - I'll contact them. I already spoke to RDA - they don't have anything that small and would have only sold them. Thank you.

Leybourne grange in Kent is an RDA centre and had all their rugs stolen a few days back - they could really do with them
