Does anyone donate their old stuff to charity? I may have some spare turnouts which have been patched up but work perfectly well and I was thinking about donating them along with some old numnahs, does anyone else do this? How did you go about finding which charities needed what equipment?

Thanks.

I regularly take tack / rugs / equipment etc from my yard to Bransby Home of Rest for Horses.
There they use what they need and anything surplus is sold in their second hand tack shop with all the proceeds then going to the charity.
I've always been quite happy for this to happen and indeed have bought second hand rugs etc from their shop :)
They do quite well from second hand tack sales and without donations this wouldnt happen. Some of the stuff is nearly new but a lot is patched up and repaired. My friend got an entire rug wardrobe for her new horse from one of their sales and picked up some lovely rugs that just needed new tail straps and the like.

It might be worth phoning your "local" charity and seeing if they do something similar - i'll bet they do

I donated most of my 'large horse' and 'tiny pony' items to the mare and foal sanctuary, they are very grateful for any donations!!
I love seeing the photo's they have on their website, horses modelling ''my stuff''!! makes me smile. My old neds would approve too I think!!

I take all my stuff (suitcases of it!) to Morocco every year and donate it for the horses and riders there. I buy lots of second hand especially for it actually. I have about 40 Kilos of stuff to take so far and I've still got 8 weeks to go:o

We got together as a yard and had a turn out and took them all to our local one, the look on the womans face was so worth it, she was so pleased and could not thank us enough. Its a great thing to do :D
