Any thoughts welcome . My horse spent 19 years at a well known horse sanctuary. ( He was mis-sold to me , constantly lame , vicious , nappy , etc . ) Was on the verge of having him put down

as he was unsuitable to ride ( was told this by a well known person in the horse world - not naming them though . )

Anyway , I contacted the sanctuary who took him on , much to my relief . The sanctuary was quite small then , now it's huge . My horse was put down this month , due to severe arthritis & I know I owe them a huge debt of gratitude & want to make a donation , but I'm not rich & my husband keeps pointing out that the sanctuary is doing well financially - so it's a ' How Much ? ' post . Any help gratefully received .

well, could you organise a little fundraising thing, (sponsored something or other) and raise money that way. You'll hopefully raise more than you could afford to give and raise the profile/ of the organisation as well.

Thanks for replies x
Sadly , I've no tack or rugs ( I'm horseless ) , but it's a good idea & one that hopefully others will consider

As for a sponsored event - well - I could get a swear box . Be assured the money will mount up

I second bailey hoss actually why not run a small show or fun ride as a fund raiser? It would be a nice thing to do and get them more money.

It is a very kind thought of you to thank the charity concerned.

Any donation you make to the charity will be much appreciated as they rely on donations however large the charity.

What about becoming a 'Life Member' of the charity as this will keep you in touch with all the good work that they are doing?

Some charities really like it if you give a (can be small) regular amount as it is obviously hard to plan with unpredictable cash-flows. Perhaps you could agree with hubby to make a donation of just a few pounds every month?

I first started donating to WHW in memory of a favourite RS horse and could only afford 2pounds/month at the time but I've increased the amount & added a few more charities over the years.
