Done to death I know.... but boots for short wide legs (human)! Help!?

Now my baby's is backed and hacking out I'd like to invest in a decent pair of 'off the shelf' boots; comfy enough to walk distances in, to do summer yard duties whilst suitable and smart enough to ride out in.

I'm only 5'1" so need a tall boot that's not too tall :p (about 16in/41cm) or it cuts into the back of my knee when riding, but wide enough to fit my chunky calf in jeans (15.5 - 16in/38 - 41cm).

I've got gaiters already so don't suggest those please!!!To about £100.

Yep I was talking to another mum this week who tried to buy some wider fitting boots and ended up with chaps instead! She is not fat at all 14/16 and I know what she means! So will watch this with interest.....um...
 
Tuffa Suffolk books :D Come in normal and wide fit. I'm 5ft 3 and they come about an inch and a bit below my knees. They start off a bit taller but are so soft they sink at the ankles loads. So I reckon at 5ft 1 they'd fit really well height wise. I'm a size 16 and have big calves. I have the wide fit because I want to tuck jeans in, or wear extra thick socks over jods and they're fine. If I'm wearing tights or jeggings then I could have got away with having the normal fit - because they have an expansion strip of material in them, and elasticated fastners so they go very wide. They feel quite heavy the first time you put them on, but after a day or two they're really not.

I looooove mine. They're about £160 if you buy direct, but I've always shopped around online and found them for about £100. Make sure you get the newer version of them. Some places stock the older ones cheaper. These have a zip on them. They look nicer with the zip, but I fould the stitching around the zip went. Whereas the newer version has no zip and seem to last much better :D

They're not as long wearing as some boots, but I don't look after my boots at all, wear them daily for about 10hrs a time. They're so comfy, I wade through puddles in them, wore them all winter in the snow, ride in the sea in them, never clean them, can wear them all summer without feet over heating, I will wear them to uni with a skirt or jeans. They are literally worn every single day because they're than comfortable. Mine still last a good year and a half, so I reckon if you actually look after them then they'll last longer :p

I'm a groom during university holidays, and these boots have gone around Burghley, Houghton, Hickstead for competitions, Edinburgh to Cornwall for holidays. They even went to Slovakia with me! For the record, it's really interesting trying to explain to Slovaks that the reason they set the metal detectors off is because of the metal in the sole for support and protection ... not because you're smuggling blades on board the areoplane :eek:

I think they're pretty tried and tested with me. I've worn them for 16hours solid on my feet at shows and they're still comfortable.

TFC - This is not advertising, I'm not on commission from Tuffa or anything of the sort :rolleyes: I just love the boots a lot, and having stuggled to get boots that fit I'm now preaching to all! Apologies for the "poser" picture below, but it's the only picture I have of me in the boots where I'm not facing the camera. I was sitting like that, on holiday in Cornwall, and Dad took the picture without me knowing. However, it does show the boots beautifully.

I have short/wide legs and opted for the Shires Norfolk, but they might be too smart. I also have a pair of Dublin River boots too and love em :D
