Have yo seen this! WTF!!!!!
Sorry this is as bad as dancing bears, I didnt even know this existed. If it was on a grass court like polo or horseball, with riders that looked like they knew what they was doing possilbly could be swayed but this, no. Although the donkeys do looked well cared for and healthy and at least they are not using bridles with bits on just simple head collars.
This is what I have just posted on you tube!

No harsh bits, no ill fitting saddles, they look healthy and cared for, cant see a problem

Agree, not awful but most the time half the riders are practically sitting on the donkeys a**e and I wouldn't be too keen for my horse (or donkey) to be cantered on a basketball court.

ETA I am not condoning it btw just as someone else said not the worst thing I've ever seen - still not great, though.

Probably quite a lot if they are involved in grooming feeding of them etc, how do pony games look to outsiders whipping kicking shouting tearing around ?

It looks very frustrating, the donkeys don't look too co-operative.

The only time they come out of walk its to dump their riders. I can't see the harm in it myself, as long as its all in good humor and the riders resist the temptation to strangle the donkeys.

Well having read the articles, they obviously aint looked after and are mistreated

, putting people on who are too heavy is not right either, so no I dont condone it, I suppose I should have guessed as much being abroad, obviously "their culture" usual crap excuse

I wouldn't say this is anywhere as bad as dancing bears, but it does leave a sour taste as the riders clearly don't have any idea about their animals.

But yes, it looks much like a gymkhana really...who hasn't seen ponies being dragged around like that with a little jockey desperatly trying to bob for an apple? I know i've probably looked like that at some point when i was younger!

Sorry maybe not the right response... But I was in a foul mood and that had me in histerics I can just see a court full of well looking doneys taking the complete piss out of a bunch of clueless fully grown men

Brilliant! I love the bit at about 40 seconds this guy in blue loses his balance, woobles and stiraght out the side door!! A few seconds later a donkey puts in a small buck and weee off goes the man. The expession on the donkeys face is priceless!! Then a guy in a white shirt tries running hoping the donkey will join in... Donkey says no!!!

I don;t see what the big fuss is. Clearly it isn't ideal as many of the riders are too big and have no clue, but It doesn't seem that bad in the scheme of things

IMO not even close to bear dancing.

Based on the video, I'm with Forget_Me_Not - the donkeys are doing only what they want to do and are dumping the 'riders' with the greatest of ease. Score - Donkeys 8, Riders 0!

They look in good condition, aren't wearing bits and there's no sign on the video of the beating and kicking that the PETA article claims - which may well go on elsewhere.

But if it's true that genuine cruelty can be associated with this game, then it should be overseen by a welfare body.

I have to agree, i found it quite amusing, although i completey fail to see the point

The donkeys refuse to get out to walk (except to buck) and even when the riders are attempting to lead them they dont move! Its hardly a fast paced, intense sport! The donkeys look healthy enough and are probably quite enjoying taking the pi$$

although ive seen worse, i still dont agree. yes the donkeys look healthy, but most dont look particularly happy to me and being on a basket ball court isnt ideal. after reading the articles their not properly looked after and being punched and dragged about my fully grown men doesnt sound like fun to me!!

I don't like that they are big heavy men and they're sitting on the weakest part of the donkey's back - that looks like it probably hurts, or could cause long-term damage. No wonder they keep getting bucked off!

If it was light people (read: children) doing this, who wouldn't strain the animals' backs, then it would be hilarious and I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

Actually they are sitting in the correct place to ride a donkey.I don't like the fact that they were on a slippery floor but the donkeys were obviously in charge and considering some of the handling I've seen of donkeys in this country I was suprised how well some of the students managed.
