I went to the beach wont mention where but i saw some little donkeys who i felt so sorry for! There were 3 of them 2 were out so i went over to stroke it it was so lethargic and had the driest mouth ever! I felt so sorry for them they had a small bucket of water which woudnt have done on of them for a day! Is this normal! i wanted to take them all hom e with me! Please put my mind at ease!

Beach donkeys should have set working hours, with rest breaks. Unfortunately due to advancing age I have forgotten what the maximum hours are. If you are bothered still please give either Redwings or the Donkey Sanctuary a call (you can find their numbers by googling) and they will know what to do.

Beach Donkeys spend half their life asleep, hence it may have looked lethargic. Local councils check the donkies, and they're under rules about hours etc the donkies can work. Phone the council from where you saw them and express your concerns.

Although I don't like seeing donkeys working on the beach and do feel sorry for them, I have to say that my donkey, who hasn't done a days work in the last 21 years, can stand in the field looking totally depressed and as if he is on his last legs. If you are really concerned I would agree it is worth a word with the local council, or even the Donkey Sanctuary.

Ring the local council and speak to them of your concerns. They have to be liscenced to be operating on the beach, and the council issue the them.

thanks amy will do and will keep you all informed!

BTW do donkeys shed there fur easily? These were all fluffy and looked luke they were still in winter coats?

They quite often hang on to their coats I think.

No. I think if you have a legitimate concern you should phone them.
