...Some one make a decision for me. Be prepared it's long. (sorry)

Theres a local show this weekend that I wanted to take Herc to, it's too far (and the road is not nice) to hack to, so he'd have to box it...which'd do him some good as he's not been out in one for a while (he hates traveling, but he's better in boxs than trailers). One of the liveries originally said she'd take us. When I talked to her today she said she was busy, but her OH would most likely be happy to take me, even if he had to drop me off then pick me up later.

And to top it off, my sister decided that she didn't want to ride him as she'd not done enough with him - fair enough- but then she was also making moany comments about how he was tanking in canter if you got him over excited and asked him a few times and pulled him up quick etc...which he never does with me, but I refrained from mentioning this as it's a good way to start ww3...and she didn't want him to show her up and how she wouldn't get placed and how she'd rather take him to in some 'proper cob classes' (i.c tgca quals) next year - this was the point where i started wanting to slap her.

Now all these classes are at least an hour away (the closest this year was stockport) and I'm not prepared to travel him that far for him to be a pig once we get there as he's not been to a show in about 6 years (tho he was an angel, even I rode him in a class, but things have changed since.)

Now I only want to go in an inhand class or two. Just to get some experience for us both, but i'd have to go alone (i'd pursuade my mate to come help) and do all the prep...tho tbh...that'd just be bath, chalking and plaiting he mane out of way the night before. I'm not expecting to even get placed...which is good as Herc is beginning to resemble a wolly mamouth.

So someone make the decision for me. Do I go (which I really want to, but wont be overly fussed if I dont) or not?

Go and have some fun, an hour's not that bad for travelling and you might suprise yourself, good luck if you do decide to go XX

If we start going regularly my sisters going to do the riding, I'm going to stick to the inhand....and maybe ride if he's good. I need more practice with his double (he'll have to be ridden in a pelham at shows even in novice classes as he will just ingnore his snaffle when he's over excited) and i really don't have the confidence, both in my riding and my ability to handle Herc if he does have a moment (not that i've not handled him doing it before, I'm just nervous)

I think i'm going to talk to him tomorrow (if I see him) even if we only go up for a hour and enter the 1 class (which is the next tough desicion) I'd also really like the bloke to hang around and give me some tips as he's ace at inhand showing (obviously wouldn't mind if he didn't want to)

Go for it,even if only for one inhand class, it will be experiance for both of you, and may give you some ideas, of anything that needs working on over the winter, in prepartion for bigger and better things next year!
Have fun and let us all know how it goes, you never know you may be posting in the competitions section by next week!!
